Over twenty-five years ago, Coachella Valley civic leaders began to call for a local public four-year college. The group's efforts lead to California State University, San Bernardino establishing a branch campus on the College of the Desert campus. From the beginning our efforts were to serve Coachella Valley students locally with programs that met local Coachella Valley needs. In 2002 we moved to our permanent location on Cook Street.

We offer our students the resources of a large, comprehensive university through the San Bernardino campus. At the same time, the Palm Desert Campus offers the supportive environment of a small campus with small classes and more opportunities for contact with instructional faculty.

The faculty and staff of the Palm Desert Campus are committed to your success, committed to serving the Coachella Valley, and committed to maintaining an environment on campus that honors diversity and provides all students the opportunities to fulfill their dreams of a higher education.

Majors & Programs

The Palm Desert Campus of CSUSB offers a number of outstanding academic programs, and our aim is to give our Coachella Valley students ready access to courses through scheduling at convenient evening and weekend times, and by offering many courses in an online mode. We offer 10 Bachelor's degree programs and 10 Master's degree or Credential programs. As the attractive new campus for California State University, San Bernardino we work closely with our academic departments to ensure our classes are offered to place students' success first.

At Palm Desert Campus you will enjoy a variety of approaches to learning. For instance, approximately 15% of our courses are distance learning classes. This means that classes are joined through interactive closed circuit television between San Bernardino and Palm Desert, allowing students at either location to learn and participate in class without the hassle of a long commute. We also offer online classes where students communicate with the instructor and other students learning in a digital, online format. While Palm Desert embraces these instructional technologies, traditional, face-to-face instruction dominates and makes for a comfortable small campus atmosphere where close interactions between and among faculty and students is the norm.

Take a close look at the various undergraduate, graduate, and credential programs listed on the left hand side of this page. You are sure to find programs that interest you and that fit your career goals. If you have questions about our undergraduate degrees, please contact Ruth Howell or (760) 341-2883 ext. 78110. For the graduate and credential programs, please contact Alice Pedersen with Palm Desert Campus College of Education Office at (760) 341-2883 ext. 78109 or (909) 537-8109.

We hope you choose your very own local university, California State University, San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus where you study at one of the great university systems in a convenient atmosphere with the small college feel!
